AgorApp’s Partner: NEAR

AgorApp is the first agnostic Integrated Development Environment (IDE) in the Web3 space. Our platform offers an interactive learning experience, reminiscent of Codecademy, designed to cater to all blockchain chains and protocols. AgorApp has become a grant recipient of NEAR, thanks to support from the DevHub community._

How it Started

Having a continued interest in NEAR, the AgorApp team had the fortunate opportunity to connect with their team representatives during the summer of 2023 at ETH Prague. Known for their strong development community, our synergies aligned and in the fall we were offered our first grant. To integrate JavaScript within our IDE and create a proof-of-concept course and runtime environment for the NEAR blockchain.

NEAR is truly a community driven project that initiates transparency by allowing community members to participate in their grant decisions. Through community approval we were granted our proposal.

First Grant Results

Between October and November 2023 we built the integration and proof of concept course. You can now see the results directly from our course catalog page where we showcase how to build a simple application using NEAR SDK for JavaScript.

Each lesson showcases the theory and exercise where you solve the exercise within the editor to unlock and go to the next lesson.

Following the successful completion of the first proposal, we received a follow-up grant to extend the course.

What’s Next?

Our next proposal, slated for completion by the end of Q1, dives deep into the education of NEAR. We will be developing 2 courses and 2 security challenges. The first course extends the proof-of-concept course for building an application on NEAR’s SDK containing a total of 11 lessons. The second course will dive into more advanced topics about the NEAR platform. With both courses, users will be able to get a complete starting education to build on NEAR.

AgorApp also offers challenges which are one lesson hacks to achieve either a gas optimization ranking or finding a vulnerability by fixing a contract. For NEAR we will be providing two security challenges. The first one involves learning how to mitigate the risks of a signer account manipulation in a NEAR smart contract. The second challenge will focus on asynchronous cross-contract calls that allow for double-spending.
